MIP Colostrum for Animal Health
MIP Colostrum contains a myriad of nutrients and bioactive components that provide immune protection for animals. It contains nutritional components such as proteins, fat, vitamins, minerals and more complex compounds such as transfer factors, lactoferrin, growth factors, and antibodies or immunoglobulins. These components play an important role in regulating the immune functions of animals. Both for hypo-functioning immune systems that are susceptible to infection and for hyper-functioning immune systems that are prone to inflammation and allergic reactions.
For example, diarrhoea is a common condition in dogs. Viruses such as rotavirus, coronavirus and canine parvovirus are commonly associated with acute diarrhoea, especially in puppies that are weaning. Young dogs are also usually affected by bacterial agents such as Escherichia coli. A study by Giffard et al (2004) showed that bovine colostrum supplementation improved the faecal quality of weaning puppies compared to the placebo. Previous studies have shown that colostrum is also beneficial in the prevention and treatment of gastroenteritis in young mice and piglets.
MIP Colostrum also exerts anti-inflammatory actions that reduce allergic reactions such as itchy skin, hot spots, scooting, irritated ears, itchy feet and breathing difficulties. These may arise as a result of increased reactivity to common allergens like pollen, insect bites and food. A study by Torre et al (2006) showed that bovine colostrum can stimulate canine skin fibroblast proliferation and activity which results in wound tissue repair. Other studies have shown that colostrum supplementation helped in healing problems such as degenerative arthritis and hip dysplasia. MIP Colostrum powder may be applied as a paste to any skin problem such as hot spots, abscesses, wounds, and surgical incisions.
Other benefits of MIP Colostrum for animals include:
- Increased mobility
- Increased energy
- Increased strength and stamina
- Improved recovery from training and injury
- Decreased opportunistic infection
- Increased fat metabolism
- Increased lean muscle mass
- For older animals – helps them shed excess weight, reduce joint pain and restore vigour.
How It Works
Colostrum is the first milk produced by milk-producing animals (mammals) after giving birth. Mothers pass on to their newborns this yellowish, protein-rich substance as they breastfeed right after birth, even before true lactation commences. Because of its nutritional value and many health benefits MIP Colostrum has been used to supplement a healthy diet not only for humans but also animals, particularly dogs, cats and horses. MIP Colostrum is similar to the molecular structure of human colostrum and is compatible with other animals. It is much more potent; but being a naturally produced substance it is safe and hypoallergenic.
Lactoferrin has been shown to inhibit many types of viruses including herpes and hepatitis viruses. It also prevents the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria. Immunoglobulins provide antibody protection against antigens or foreign substances that invade the body such as viruses and bacteria, thereby preventing infectious diseases.
MIP Colostrum contains various growth factors that enhance, repair and regenerate tissues in response to injury such as bone, cartilage, muscles and blood vessels and includes insulin-like growth factor (IGF), platelet-derived growth factor, transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), epidermal growth factor, vasoendothelial growth factor, and basic fibroblast growth factor. MIP Colostrum also provides tumor necrosis factors, which regulate inflammation and inhibits cancer cell growth and viral replication.
A major component of MIP Colostrum is the proline-rich polypeptides (PRP), which is also involved in immune system regulation. They reduce inflammation, allergic reactions and increased protection against viral and bacterial infections.
MIP Colostrum is a whole food and is completely natural unlike antibiotics. In fact antibiotics can actually make both humans and animals more susceptible to illness. Antibiotics kill all bacteria which not only cause other ailments and side effects but also throw the body off balance because not all bacteria are bad. By killing all bacteria the immune system works harder and leaves the body more stressed and tired. Using MIP Colostrum can naturally help eliminate symptoms by combating the actual problem. Strengthening the immune system naturally is the best defence against illnesses.
Recommendations
MIP Colostrum supplements are available in powder and capsule form which can be easily mixed with animal feeds (such as milk or other solid foods). Veterinarians and other animal experts recommend using it to maintain or improve the health of animals. It is palatable for example, to dogs, cats, horses, pigs and mice.
Veterinarians recommend giving dosages for a minimum of three months. To use, simply sprinkle some MIP Colostrum powder into their dish. Small dogs and cats: 1 tsp daily; Medium to large dogs: 1 tsp twice daily (morning and night); Horses: 2 tsp twice daily (morning and night). Since MIP Colostrum is a natural animal product, it is safe even if given in large doses, and there are no allergic reactions or overdose effects expected.
